The author of "Wisdom of the Wild Ones" — Bernadette King — contracted with me to convert her existing print book to an e-book for Amazon publishing. The original print book was designed by Linda Grosnick. I designed an e-book template that had the look and feel of the original print book design but with e-reader access in mind. The print PDF file was provided to convert, using Adobe Acrobat, to a workable text file that was imported into Adobe InDesign. The 700+ page print book with over 500 photos converted to an e-book of 1000+ pages. My challenge was to ensure that the e-book was under the maximum file size allowed by KDP/Amazon and was manageable by e-readers. I used HTML to finalize the epub files, with live navigation and index pages, that were exported from InDesign and tested on my Kindle prior to release for publishing.
